    DOAJThe SAIMM has adopted the Open Journal System (OJS) with the objective of optimizing the management of the paper reviewing process for the Journal.

    Paper submissions will no longer be accepted via the SAIMM Journal submission form on the SAIMM website. Only papers that are currently in the system will follow the existing reviewing process.

    You can now submit manuscripts and peer reviews online. The OJS assists you with every step of the reviewing process. Authors can also check the status of their papers online and referees will receive automated reminders for their reviews.

3rd Young Professionals Conference 2017

Selo Ndlovu, President elect of SAIMM, tells us more about the Young Professionals Conference that took place on 9 and 10 March at the The Innovation Hub.

She discusses the importance of empowering young professionals, the mining industry as a whole and provides us with a summary of the research discussed.

 

Mosima Matlhwana is a student at Wits - University of the Witwatersrand. We checked in with her at the recent #YPC2017 where she told us more about her research, the importance of conferencing and networking with other young professionals.

 

SAMCODES is the institution for professional reporting practices. Ms Marshall from Explorations Limited stopped by for a discussion on the influence of social media in reporting practices. She highlights both the advantages and the dangers - have a look below!

New technology and innovation in the Minerals Industry Colloquium 2016

Alan Fenelon from Minetec talks safety in mining, the industry at large, and Minetec's product offering. By tracking assets in real-time, Fenelon's product offers the industry a competitive advantage.

 

We caught up with Alistair MacFarlane from Tomahee at the SAIMM2016 New technology and Innovation Colloquium.

As the conference was drawing to a close, Alistair shared his satisfaction with the proceeding as a whole. The conference was well attended with several thought leaders presenting some innovative research

 

We checked in with Lorrance Ngwenyama, from University of Pretoria. Overall, he was impressed by the groundbreaking innovation discussed in today's proceedings. He will also be presenting tomorrow and looks forward to sharing his research with the rest of the delegation.

 

Wrapping up the final session at #SAIMM2016, we had a chat with Katlego M Letsoalo from the Chamber of Mines South Africa.

He shares his thoughts on the day's activities and gives us the low down on the Phakisa project that is currently underway.
