Topic: The Pursuit of the Digital Twin in African Mining

REGISTER HERE ...

Speaker Profile:  Jamie is CEO of pan-African mining technology platform Dwyka Mining Services with offices in South Africa and Botswana. Delivering cutting-edge solutions through the adoption and adaptation to the latest mining technologies with a focus on improving safety, health and environmental conditions, DMS is supporting Africa’s leading miner’s digitalisation journeys across the continent.

Topic info: Digitalization of mining assets into highly visual formats is key to unlocking hidden value by solving a widening skills gap and growing safety mandate. DMS has partnered with global pioneers in the remote sensing and visualization (UI) industry to deliver mixed reality capture and digital twin capabilities that augment mining team’s sight on- and off-site. This session will focus on digital twin developments and how these are applicable in African mining. Drilling down into the detail we will unpack real-world examples and a case study using Emesent’s Hovermap drone for GPS-denied scanning capability used to map the previously inaccessible and deliver ROI for the client.

  • Rainbow reiterates potential of South Africa, Brazil projects
Rainbow Rare Earths is bullish about the potential of its Phalaborwa rare earths project in South Africa, as it is expected to be the highest margin rare earth elements (REEs) project in development owing to its different capital and operating cost profile compared to traditional projects, CEO George Bennet says in an unaudited results statement for the six months ended December 31. “Phalaborwa is a unique project in the rare earths space. Due to the fact that it is focused on the reprocessing of phosphogypsum stacks to recover rare earths, it has a fundamentally different cost profile to traditional mining projects, and it is therefore expected to be the highest margin rare earth project in development today,” he comments.
