10th Annual Student Colloquium 10 October 2012 University of Witwatersrand | WITS Sport Conference Venues The Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy has been organising and presenting an annual Student Colloquium since 2002 to give final year mining and metallurgical students an opportunity to present their final year projects to a mining and metallurgical audience. This colloquium serves to introduce the best students to the mining industry at the threshold of their careers, and to expose them to communicate their work to a professional audience. The SAIMM wishes to persuade more mining and metallurgical experts to attend and meet the fine calibre of young persons about to embark on their careers in the industry. There will be 15 mining and 15 metallurgical presentations planned for the day, with a lunch and cocktail party afterwards. The top five winners of each discipline will stand a chance to be published in the prestigious SAIMM Journal in April 2013.
