Background
The Diamonds – Source to Use conference series targets the full spectrum of the diamond pipeline, from exploration through to sales and marketing. The 2021 conference, the eighth in the series, will focus on advances in the mining and metallurgical aspects as well as many of the downstream and related industries.

Susanna Aletta Carolina Hockaday
Mintek
Mrs. S.A.C. (Lina) Hockaday (F) nee Stadler, is a Senior Engineer at the Pyrometallurgical Division at Mintek. She joined Mintek in 2002 after obtaining her B. Chem. Eng. (Minerals Processing specialization) and M.Sc. in Extractive Metallurgy at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa. During 2002 to 2010 she worked in the commercial projects group on various projects including the recovery of precious metals in liquid iron and the smelting of ores to produce design specifications of an industrial ferrochrome DC arc furnace. From 2011 to late 2015 she took a break from work and had two delightful children, now aged 9 & 6. From 2015 to current, she has been involved in research of new technologies for titanium metal production, chlorination of titanium dioxides in a fluidized bed and the application of renewable energy in minerals processing. Since 2016 she is enrolled at the University of Stellenbosch as a part-time Ph.D. student with the working title of “Solar thermal treatment of Manganese Ores” at the University of Stellenbosch. She is currently involved in the PRéMA project as work package leader responsible for €2 million of research towards advancement of solar thermal process heating technology in manganese ferroalloy production. The PRéMA project is funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme under Grant Agreement No 820561 and is part of the SPIRE group of projects.
Victor Ustinov
AGD Diamonds
Born in Leningrad (now - Saint-Petersburg) in USSR, graduated from Leningrad State University in 1982. Started to work on diamond exploration projects in Siberia in 1981 being a student. Continued as a Senior geologist/Project leader in Diamond Department of All-Russia Geological Research institute. Since 2018 - an Advisor of Chief Executive Officer in AGD Diamonds (Russia) mining Grib pipe, member of Advisory Committee of International Kimberlite Conferences (ACIKC). In 2002- 2017 was a Project leader on diamond exploration operations of ALROSA in North-West of Russia, Angola, Botswana and other territories. Results of works are published in 2 monographs, 60 papers and dozens of geological reports on Geology and Exploration of Mineral Resources. Doctoral research is devoted to development of diamond exploration technologies on covered territories and to prediction of new mines within Siberian, East-European and African platforms.
Peter Ravenscroft
Burgundy Diamond Mines Ltd
Mr. Ravenscroft has 40 years of experience in the international mining industry, with specific knowledge of diamonds, and a background in exploration, geostatistics, resource evaluation and mine planning. He progressed from technical roles in De Beers and Anglo American in southern Africa to leadership positions in Rio Tinto in the UK, Australia and Canada. He has been involved in operations, projects and M&A in base metals, gold and iron ore across the Rio Tinto group, and was also for many years Rio Tinto’s leading expert on diamond resource evaluation. In an executive role with Cleveland Cliffs Inc., Mr Ravenscroft built a global exploration function focused on diversification through earn-in deals with junior partners and brought several successful projects to an advanced evaluation stage. More recently he has been an independent consultant providing strategic advisory services to a number of global clients, with a particular focus on the diamond sector in Canada. He has served as a non-executive director on a number of boards in Australia and Canada. Mr Ravenscroft has a Masters equivalent from the Paris School of Mines and is a Fellow of the AusIMM.

Paul Zimnisky, CFA is a leading global diamond industry analyst based in the New York City metro area specializing in diamond supply/demand fundamentals. His research and analysis on the diamond industry is used by financial institutions, management consulting firms, private and public corporations, governments, intergovernmental organizations and universities including: HSBC, UBS, Scotiabank, Fidelity Investments, KPMG, Deloitte, Boston Consulting Group, De Beers, ALROSA, Rio Tinto, Tiffany & Co., Cartier, The International Monetary Fund and the governments of Canada, South Africa and Botswana.
Paul is a regular contributor to leading industry trade journals and websites including: The London Mining Journal, Mining Review Africa, World Diamond Magazine and Jeweller Magazine, and he is regularly quoted by prominent media outlets including: The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times, Bloomberg, Reuters, The Economist, The Times of India, Agence France-Presse, The South China Morning Post and Xinhua. In addition, he is often invited to speak at institutional investor and industry conferences around the world and has given presentations on diamonds in North America, South America, Europe, Africa and Asia.
Prior to his work as an independent diamond industry analyst, Paul worked in the financial markets industry for over 10 years in capacities including buy-side analyst, high-frequency trader and exchange-traded fund developer. Paul is a graduate of the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business with a Bachelor of Science in finance. He is a CFA charterholder and a member of the CFA Society of New York.

Venue: COVID-19 Protocols
The Canvas Riversands: Measures taken regarding COVID19
Johannesburg, 12 March 2020
As a responsible venue and in line with our company values, the health and wellbeing of all who attend events hosted at The Canvas Riversands is a priority.
We clean our facilities on a daily basis using the industrial quality cleaning materials and disinfectants. However, in light of COVID19, we have instituted the following additional measures to mitigate against the spread of the disease:
- Setting up 6 stations for self-dispensing hand sanitizers throughout our building.
- Keeping our main bathroom doors open so that visitors do not have to touch handles.
- Adding additional hygiene signage around our events to remind visitors to wash their hands regularly.
- Increasing the frequency of wipe downs of all common touch areas each day including door knobs, lecterns, microphones, hand rails, trash cans, water stations, registration tables and in and around the bathroom areas.
- On the arrival each delegate will be screened at the registration desk.
We recommend that event organisers also consider the following actions in hosting events:
- Communicate regarding the importance of delegates staying at home should they experience any symptoms: a cough, high temperature or shortness of breath.
- Communicate that if delegates have recently visited any countries of high-risk regions identified do not attend events.
