SAIMM Johannesburg Branch Technical Visit

OVERVIEW

Join us on 30 May 2026 for the SAIMM-Pan African Resources MTR Site Visit. This exclusive site visit offers members a practical view of tailings re-mining operations, including processing and deposition activities at the Mogale Tailings Retreatment (MTR) operation.
 
The session will include a welcome and safety induction. Attendees will be provided the opportunity to visit the on-site re-mining and deposition activities, plant and infrastructure. The visit is designed to be interactive, and participants are encouraged to engage, ask questions, and share knowledge.

BACKGROUND

The MTR operation forms part of the rehabilitation of historical tailings storage facilities from Witwatersrand gold mining in the West Rand region. These operations aim to address environmental legacy challenges while unlocking economic value through the retreatment of tailings storage facilities.

• Eye protection
• High-visibility vest
• Hard hat
• Valid ID / driver’s licence / passport for sign-in

 
The MTR operation is an active mine site, and all attendees are subject to adhere to strict mine health and safety conditions.
