What are your views on the 4th industrial revolution?
I believe that the revolution has its advantages and disadvantages. For example, with it there is increased human productivity meaning that as humans we are able to make smart choices, faster and even more effective than before. However, it does have its disadvantages such as widening the inequality gap in countries such as SA as not everyone is digitally skilled and will further exacerbate the unemployment problem at hand. We cannot evade it though just need to be properly managed and implemented.
If you were a precious metal what would you be and why?
Definitely Gold. It has stood the test of time, is tradeable, has a unique colour, popular and used for Business (Electronics & Medicine) as well as Pleasure (Jewellery).
How do you think industry bodies such as the SAIMM can better equip young professionals such as yourself?
Provides a platform where professionals can network and be exposed to experts in the field. Guide them in their career paths, offer real life case studies of professionals in the industry, sharpen their communication, presentation, and organizing/planning skills.
How do you see young professionals making a significant change in the industry?
By being the voice of the youth to the industry and opening them up to their challenges. As well as putting forward the youth’s needs out there. The youth is more passionate and energetic and offers the industry a new way of thinking eg about technology etc
What gets you up in the morning?
I am excited about the opportunity to be and do better than yesterday
