REFRACTORIES 2013
CONFERENCE

23-4 April 2013 | Misty Hills | Muldersdrift

South Africa is a major user of refractory materials since it has a strong
pyrometallurgical industry (whereby commodities such as iron and steel, stainless
steel, ferrochrome, ferromanganese, silicomanganese, silicon, PGMs, titania and
aluminium are produced), a petrochemical industry which is the largest in Africa, a
cement industry which supplies its civil engineering and building sectors, as well as
glass smelting and recycling operations, and a foundry industry. Knowledge on
refractory materials is therefore of great importance to the South African economy

Objectives
The main objective of Refractories 2013 is to advance the understanding of the
production, installation and use of refractory materials in Southern Africa through the exchange of knowledge between all the relevant role players in the field, i.e. raw material suppliers, refractory producers, installers, users and researchers.

Presentations will have a technical focus, in which the latest challenges, developments and trends will be discussed, and information as well as experiences shared. This forum will also be used to discuss the interdependence of the different role players, and to create the opportunity for networking in the field.

Who should attend
