A PARADIGM SHIFT FOR GEOMETALLURGY - VALUE CANNOT ALWAYS BE MEASURED

Marushnee Govender is the Principal Geologist for Mining Geology and Geometallurgy at Kumba Iron Ore since 2020, responsible for the strategy, governance and the technical support for Kumba Iron Ore operations and exploration. 

Marushnee began her career in 2008 as a graduate geologist at Thabazimbi Mine after completing a BSc Honours degree in Geology from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal in 2007. After gaining experience in production and exploration geology, she was appointed as the exploration geologist for a brownfields geometallurgy project at the mine in 2010. In 2015, when Geometallurgy was formalised into the business, Marushnee was appointed as the Senior Specialist for Geometallurgy. In this role, the geometallurgy strategy and protocol for Kumba Iron was developed and implemented
