Andrew Cooper brings a unique combination of both operational and strategic experience in energy and GHG management. He is an International Energy Manager of the Year award winner and the 2023 International Energy Innovator of the Year.

Andrew is a Senior Consultant with SYNERGISE, which helps organisations be more sustainable by improving energy efficiency, reducing GHG emissions and engaging employees in the process. He has facilitated energy and GHG meetings and workshops with senior leadership of multi-national mining companies, consulted on energy and GHG reduction initiatives, developed and implemented energy management systems, and supported workforce capability building programs through training and coaching.

He initiated and led the first implementation of ISO 50001 at a mine in North America, helping the mine realise energy savings of more than 15% of the annual energy use. The mine received several national and international awards for Andrew’s energy and GHG management initiatives.

An energetic, entertaining and thought-provoking speaker, who has received many positive reviews, Andrew has been invited to be a keynote speaker and presenter at events in Canada, USA, Chile, Argentina, South Africa, Finland and the UK. He has also been invited to be a guest on several podcasts.

Andrew is a Professional Engineer, a Certified Energy Manager, a 50001 Certified Professional, a Certified Industrial Energy Professional, and a Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM) Verification Services Provider. In addition, Andrew has served on energy and climate change related working groups for various mining associations.
