SAIMM Johannesburg Branch Presentation -  Background to Vanadium Resources’ Steelpoortdrift project and the future of Vanadium production and markets

Date: 16 September 2021

Venue: Zoom

Time: 17:00 – 18:30
By Eugene Nel

About the presentation:
Even though Vanadium is an abundant metal, and with South Africa possessing nearly 75% of the world’s deposits, its production, uses and markets have always received less exposure compared to other mainstream metals. With the advent of the green revolution Vanadium is set to become a much more prominent metal in industry and especially in support of the energy transition away from fossil fuels.

VR8 is a junior Vanadium developer listed on the ASX (ASX:VR8) who owns 74% of the world class, tier 1, Steelpoortdrift Vanadium licensed mining project. The Steelpoortdrift titaniferous magnetite deposit is located in the Eastern Limb of the Bushveld Geological Complex and is one of the world’s largest Vanadium deposits with an indicated and inferred JORC resource of 612 Mt @ 0.78% V2O5 in situ, including 167 Mt @ 1.07% V2O5. The Company has recently completed a PFS study on the project and has also declared a maiden Ore Reserve. Concurrent studies on supplementary processing routes to produce high purity V2O5  and other niche products from the suite of elements present in the Titano-magnetite (V, Ti and Fe) are also ongoing.

This presentation aims to discuss global Vanadium sources and production as well as give insight in its uses and current market outlook. It also includes a brief introduction to the Steelpoortdrift project including current status and progress.
