Federica Forte (PhD in Environmental and Infrastructure Engineering) is a researcher in the Department for Sustainability at ENEA - the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development.
Her main scientific interests fall within the framework of the European strategies and initiatives in the field of circular economy in which the Department operates and concern the development and optimization of innovative chemical processes with low environmental impact for the valorisation of complex matrices (such as end-of-life products, industrial by-products, etc). In particular, she is working on a research line focused on the recovery of materials from end-of-life lithium-ion batteries. She is member of working group 2 (Raw Materials and Recycling) of Batteries Europe and she is involved in the activities of the Italian phosphorus platform, aimed at promoting the sustainability of the phosphorus value chain.
She worked as postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Chemistry of KU Leuven (Belgium) on the development of rare earths and other critical raw materials recovery processes by means hydro-, solvo- and iono- metallurgical techniques (H2020 Platirus project, H2020 Remaghic project, MaxiVia project).
She is author/co-author of several publications, 13 of them on peer-reviewed journals.
