Kerstin Forsberg is associate professor in chemical engineering and has expertise in separation processes, in particular crystallization. The knowledge is often applied in projects concerning recovery of resources from waste streams (e.g. spent batteries, pickling acid, red mud) or to investigate phenomena connected to the transport of pollutants (e.g. mobility of radionuclides). Forsberg leads KTH:s participation in the European collaboration projects SCALE, RM@Schools 3.0 and RAISE. Forsberg is head of the Division of Resource Recovery at the Dept. of Chemical Engineering since 2016. Forsberg is deputy director for the KTH Industrial Transformation Platform. The platform was created in 2019 and covers one of six focus areas for multidiciplinary research at KTH. Forsberg represents the School of Engineering Sciences in Chemistry, Biotechnology and Health (CBH) as a board member of the Water Centre at KTH and as a member of the management team for the initiative on Circular Economy at KTH. Forsberg is program director for the master's program in chemical engineering for energy and environment at CBH since July 2019. Since 2020 Forsberg represents KTH as expert in the technical committee on cirkular economy (SIS/TK 616) at the Swedish Institute for Standards (SIS) and with active participation in the work on a global level in ISO/TC 323 Circular Economy within the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
