Dr Jeffrey Baloyi
Senior Researcher at Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, CSIR

Dr. Siwela is a senior researcher with strong background in material science, water and wastewater treatment technologies, reactor design, hydrogen storage, mathematical optimization, data analysis and new product development. Areas of interest are in material science, multivariate statistical methods, design and assembly of nanomaterial for energy conversion and storage, catalysis, water and wastewater treatment, optimization, statistical analysis of process data and computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Dr. Siwela started his career as trainee metallurgist at Anglo American Platinum in 2010.

Dr. Siwela joined Mintek under Advanced Materials Division in 2013. He completed all his postgraduate studies under Advanced Materials Division unit at Mintek in collaboration with the Vaal University of Technology, University of Johannesburg and University of Witwatersrand. Dr. Siwela has received many awards at national and international level including winning the eminent association of pioneers and planetary scientific research center best oral presentations and papers and the 2020 Mail & Guardian 200 Young South Africans - Category: Science and Technology. He had led various organizations at the branch and national level and has written and published over 20 conference papers, research articles, and 2 book chapters. His work experience includes 8 years’ industrial research and development experience as a water and wastewater researcher.
