Background

Innovation and research into mining technology is necessary to position Africa as a world leader in minerals production and benefi ciation. The Young Professionals Council is pleased to host a unique, two-day conference that will showcase a broad range of emerging research and innovation from young professionals in the metals and minerals industry. Presentations will focus on new technology, tools and techniques relevant to exploiting Africa’s mineral resources safely, competitively and sustainably.

Objectives

a broad range of topics covering the entire mining value-chain will give a quick sense of developments in the fi eld of mining and metallurgy
a large body of research at Masters, PhD and Post-doctoral level will give insights into emerging themes and advances in the minerals and metals knowledge-areas

Bridging the gap between research (academia) and industry while transitioning into 4IR.

Nala Consultancy & Projects is the official host of the 3rd Global Engineering Symposium(GES) in South Africa in collaboration with the SAIMM-YPC. The GES hosts a highly engaged international audience of technical, operational and policy making engineers in both academia and industry discussing current trends within these fields.

The rest of the world has slowly transitioned into the 4IR and countries such as Japan, South Korea and Germany have proven to be successful in the transition. South Africa is currently exposed to the same trend within the African continent. Therefore, such discussions will assist in unraveling paths to follow in order to achieve a sustainable transition into Industry 4.0. Having students as the cornerstone for the future of both academia and industry, we need to find ways to equip them for the transition and help them increase their competitive advantage in their respective fields.

OBJECTIVES
The event aims,

To provide a great networking opportunity with delegates from different countries such as Azerbaijan, Ireland, Canada, Poland, Netherlands, Estonia, Germany and South Africa.
