An increase in exploitation of copper sulfide deposits in the African Copperbelt, coupled with transitioning of other oxide deposits into the sulfides zone, has resulted in more processing facilities coming online in recent years. Copper sulfides are optimally recovered to acceptable and saleable concentrate levels by means of froth flotation and copper metal is further recovered by a series of downstream processing units. The increased processing of sulfide deposits and experienced challenges with processing of mixed ore sulfides has led to increasing focus and collaboration between operators, industry equipment suppliers, reagent vendors, and key service providers to conduct research for the various circuit optimizations. This short course on froth flotation was initiated in response to industry demand for sharing of knowledge and building regional capacity in this technology. The course covers fundamentals of flotation and equipment as well as practical cases of success stories from the various operations in the Copperbelt.
The course topics will be presented by renowned industry leaders in the field. The short course will be accredited for one (1) Continuing Professional Development (CPD) point by the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
