The presentation will focus on the challenges of Short Interval Control. Providing a single up to date plan reflecting all planned work on the mine site. Reporting in a consistent manner against the planned activities. Collecting data from multiple source systems and updating progress based upon this information. Information about the current state of tasks needs to be available in near real time. The challenge of converting the engineering plans (mining and maintenance) into jobs to be done in the field. Designing a job and getting the job done require different skill sets. Clear vision of the resources (People and Equipment) to undertake the work each shift.
Ian Jones is a highly skilled IT Analyst and Consultant with a 25 year career spanning database development, solution training, business intelligence, project management and business analysis. The past 15 years have been spent exclusively in mining roles focused on operations management of both open pit and underground mining operations. Having worked for a major mining contractor and for software companies delivering reporting, fleet and short interval control solutions, I have a unique perspective on what is required to deliver successful solutions in this area.
