There are several security issues impacting the mining industry such as illegal mining, product theft, community unrest and organised armed attacks. These issues are often accompanied by land invasions, destruction and sabotage of infrastructure, mine stoppages and a wide range of social ills and criminal activity. These will be unpacked and discussed.
