During this difficult and uncertain time, we know that the health and safety of you, your families and the wider community is of the utmost importance. We as an organisation share both your individual and organisational concerns on the virus’ expanding global reach. SAIMM has been closely monitoring the spread of the disease, especially related to our conference registrants and their travelling. As always, your safety is our highest priority. Due to the increasing urgency of the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, we regret to inform you that the Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy Northern Cape Branch has decided to postpone the Student event that was due to take place on the 20th of January 2021 at the Kalahari Country Club. This event will be postponed until further notice.
This has been a hard decision for us as our event programme is at the heart of what we do and the activities we provide for our members. However, after carefully reviewing the situation, we have decided that the most responsible option for us is to limit travel and large group gatherings. I’m sure that you share in both our and our Sponsors disappointment that we cannot go ahead with this event on the planned dates. We want to thank the sponsors and willing participants for their efforts to consider involvement in the event to sustain a future harmonious relationship. We will be in touch with all delegates in due course to advise them how we will proceed and our policy for reimbursement.
We will e-mail all delegates who have registered for these meetings – please check your inbox for further information. We will be in touch to provide sponsorship refunds. All other SAIMM virtual meetings are currently still going ahead, and we will continue to review the situation on an ongoing basis.
